Let the 40th Birthday games begin!

First let me say how lame it is that I have not posted since February! LAME.

Now onto better news. On March 20th-my fmaily and a bunch of friends began to gatehr at Lake Creek Lodge in Camp Sherman, Oregon for the weekend. What a weekend it was. Here are a few shots of dear ones around the kitchen table in our absolutely RADIANT cabin. In fact, people this cabin is my dream home...didn't want to leave. Anyway- Erene and Chris flew up from SF- love you for the effort....Nat and Gina flew in from Cape Cod- deserve a medal for the effort...there is uncle Toph....Heather and Topher, my parents oh gosh and so many more...thank you to everyone for making this weekend so incredible...

Taking time

We could have never gone away for these days without Devin's Mom, Jan. Jan is always so supportive of us getting away to relax and recharge~ so Nevi had three glorious days with her Grandma and Grandpa! Thank you Jan and Jack for being so loving & thoughtful by creating a place were our daughter feels free, happy and safe!
It is an important reminder to us (and all parents & couples as a matter of fact) to make the time to go away ~step out of your daily routine. The wonders of nature, quiet, adventure can rejuvinate the soul and remind you~ oh how amazing life really is!

Snow Shoe adventure

On Saturday, we went up to the mountain to ski- there had been over two feet of snow over night and the winds were gusting to 50 miles/hour at the top...but we went to check it out for ourselves. We decided when I almost got blown over in the parking lot- this was not a day that would make us happy to be skiing! Back to our cozy inn we went. Granted, we had skied a full and lucious day on Friday- which helped our decision. So instead we went on a great snow shoeing adventure...way back into the silent & still woods. We found a gorgous house tucked away in the forest...we took a moment of silence~ standing in the grove of coniferous beauties, we absorbed the stillness and the wonder of nature...we laughed when each one of us fell over and had to try and get up...we breathed fresh air and had a lovely time just the two of us. Devin had the hard part of making the first steps and I had the joy of following in his tracks...bliss.

Leaving is never easy

Here I am brushing off the car as we are about to drive back to Portland after an epic few days in winter wonderland: skiing, snow shoeing, relaxing!

NOW this is snow!

For Christmas, I gave Devin a weekend away in Southern Oregon. We spent three days skiing at Mount Ashland and staying at the Mount Ashland Inn. Here is a picture of the inn and the inn keepers car! While we were there we got over three feet of new snow! Pure delight.

SNOW DAY

So to all you east coast people- this will make you laugh...this dusting of snow constituted a snow day here in Oregon!
So, when we heard school was cancelled- I told Nevi she better get her snowsuit and boots on & get right outside cause the snow would probably melt by the time she finished breakfast!
Out she went at about 7:30 am to run free, dance and make snow angels on the back deck!
Oh no matter how little snow on the ground- SNOW DAYS rock!
